The development of the Prius Solar Kit has taken a couple of years now, with the delay being due to the development of the panels themselves. We are preparing to announce a limited availability of about 200 Version 2.0 Prius kits for the remainder of 2008, while our flexible-panel supplier moves from the laboratory to the production line.

(PV) Panel Kits
for the 2004-2008 Toyota Prius
 The new panels are larger,
covering the entire roof length, and are protected from ultraviolet light
degradation. The enhanced Prius PV Kit produces 24 watts of charge current in moderate
lighting conditions to recharge the auxiliary battery.
No additional
batteries are needed, and this kit does not interfere with the factory
charging system — so it does not violate the factory warranty. Fuel mileage
increase on our prototype has been averaging 2 mpg, but this will vary
depending on individual driving profiles.
Installation labor is estimated at four man-hours
for factory-trained technicians. The kit is sold exclusively through Solatec-authorized
centers due to the precision skills required to install.

The Fuller Wind Turbine System
 The Fuller Wind Turbine System, a new, compact wind turbine, can
be used to generate electrical power. This unit is much smaller than
existing wind turbines and should be especially efficient in rural areas
that are located off-grid.
By combining the wind turbine with a fuel cell system, an uneconomic and
undependable power source is turned into a far more valuable, utility-grade,
“peaking” power-generation system.
